Adrian Cole was born in Plymouth, Devonshire in 1949. He is currently the Director of College Resources in a large secondary school in Bideford, where he now lives with his wife, Judy, son Sam, and daughter Katia. He remains best known for his Dream Lords trilogy as well as his young adult novels, Moorstones and The Sleep of Giants.Couple of years ago, I had thought that I have had enough of Lovecraft and his mythical Old Gods. Then several things happened. I got reintroduced to C.J. Hendersons hardboiled operatives taking on those nasties in a bloodier and livelier manner, than they used to in all those anthologies babbling about Cthulhu et.al. Then I got hooked to the works of Willie Meikle, whose Glasgow-based PI Derek Adams made the cases of wisecracking & scarred heroes taking on the Mythos-spawned beasties a lotGreat book easy and fun read I want more of the Private Eye, Public Fist!

Lots of silly pulpy fun. Could have done with more non-male characters - there's nothing to stop a police officer or two being ladies, for example - to say nothing of authors, sea captains, shopkeepers, & retired superheroes - but this is a flaw in the source material as well, so I'm not going to complain too hard about that.The writing is fast-paced, descriptions are creative, and the plots of the various short stories are engaging enough, if occasionally a little repetitive.
